Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American television journalist anchor and anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. Following a childhood living in New York City, Mitchell received a degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. She became a reporter for the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located which was based in Washington DC. She joined NBC News Washington two years following that as an general reporter. The year 1980 marked the beginning of her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. She became the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell is a regular in the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell was a panelist at the 1988 debates between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) honored Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contributions to the protection and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. The time span covered both Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell covered a range of notable stories, including weapons control, the budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal and went on numerous trips with President Reagan to summits with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
